Brooker’s Founding Flavors Ice Cream awarded 2025 Utah Veteran-Owned Business of the Year
Brian Brooker’s journey from military service to entrepreneurial success is a testament to vision, resilience and strategic growth. As a U.S. Army veteran and Iraq War officer, Brian spent eight years in the Judge Advocate General’s (JAG) Corps. However, his love for America started long before his military service.
While living near Colonial Williamsburg, Brian envisioned an ice cream parlor that combined rich, handcrafted flavors with the spirit of the American Revolution. But rather than rush into business, he took a strategic path — building financial stability, gaining expertise in sales, and studying the ice cream industry for over two decades. In 2018, that dream became a reality when he opened the first Brooker’s Founding Flavors Ice Cream in Vineyard, Utah.Brian’s concept quickly gained traction, leading to store expansions in Provo, Herriman and Saratoga Springs. But what truly set him apart was his ability to adapt and grow during challenges. While many businesses struggled during COVID-19, Brian expanded, proving his resilience and business acumen. Today, his company boasts 95 employees and over 100 unique flavors, all inspired by the nation’s founding era.
In 2024, Brian took his business to the next level by launching a franchise model, selling multiple franchise agreements that will lead to eight new locations and 160-200 jobs. This growth was made possible, in part, by the critical support of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). Over the years, Brian has utilized SBA loans and lines of credit to fund expansion, secure new locations, and maintain financial flexibility. His strong financial management has also allowed him to successfully repay multiple SBA loans, demonstrating his business’s strength and sustainability.
Beyond business, Brian is committed to giving back. His company actively supports local community initiatives and offers discounts to military personnel, first responders and clergy, reinforcing his dedication to service.
Now recognized as the 2025 Utah Veteran-Owned Business of the Year, Brian’s story is a powerful example of how veterans continue to lead, inspire, and build lasting legacies. With SBA support and an unwavering commitment to excellence, Brooker’s Founding Flavors Ice Cream is on track to become a national brand — one revolutionary scoop at a time.
