For the third time, Fear Factory, a Salt Lake City haunted attraction, and Station Park Dental of Farmington have partnered to give away a smile makeover worth more than $20,000, this time to Utahn Nakomis Hardy.
Dr. Ryan Allen is the founder and CEO of Station Park Dental. In addition to being a dentist and smile makeover expert, Allen is a die-hard Halloween fan and in a visit to Fear Factory several years ago, he met the Fear Factory owners and became a sponsor of the haunted house. From there, the discussion quickly turned to partnering to give back to the community by providing a smile makeover at the end of each Halloween season.
The smile makeover application is a double-blind process where applicants apply and share their story and why they should receive the smile makeover. The names are stripped away before being shared with Allen and his team to review and select a winner.
“We get such genuine joy from helping people transform their lives through our smile makeovers,” Allen said in a release. “Our goal is to give people renewed hope by providing them with a beautiful smile and more importantly a healthy mouth that gives them the confidence to pursue their dreams and live their best lives.”
Hardy currently experiences a number of challenges with her teeth. She has cavities and knows for certain that the majority of her upper teeth need to be replaced. Due to poor genetics and long-term neglect, her teeth are wearing away, crooked and discolored. When she was young, she said her parents didn’t have the financial resources to help straighten and care for her teeth and when she entered adulthood she couldn’t afford the work that needed to be done to enhance and create healthy teeth and smile.
“I’m a confident person but my teeth are something I’ve never liked,” explained Hardy. “I never smile with my teeth because I don’t like other people looking at my teeth. Professionally, I plan on going to school to become a hairdresser, so it will be great to be able to give my future clients a warm and trustworthy smile.”
Station Park Dental offers a full range of dental treatments including general dentistry, dental implants, dental crowns, preventive care, emergency dental care, wisdom teeth removal and cosmetic dentistry to help patients achieve their perfect smile.
“After a long haunt season of transforming our actors into the scariest creatures on Earth, it’s refreshing to work with Dr. Allen to transform smiles into the most beautiful things in the world,” said Rob Dunfield, Fear Factory co-founder and COO. “We love supporting the community and giving back to those that may not have the resources to make significant changes to better their lives and gain the confidence they need to thrive and pursue their dreams.”
Fear Factory’s 2026 season kicks off Sept. 11 and will be open on weekends through Sept. 30, when it extends its hours to include Thursday-Sunday before opening nightly beginning Oct. 21 through Halloween night.
Fear Factory is located at 666 West and 800 South in downtown Salt
Lake City.
