•Bank of Utah, Ogden, has hired David Rusch, Brenda Lambert, Robert Beckstead and Corey Johnson. Rusch, hired to serve as vice president/retail banking manager, previously worked for eight years as regional sales manager for Zions Bank. Lambert, vice president/trust officer, previously worked as a senior trust officer for Franklin Templeton Bank, Zions Bank and Wells Fargo in the Greater Salt Lake area. She has more than 16 years of experience in trust and IRA administration. Beckstead, an IT information security and risk management professional, is a Bank of Utah technology security officer. He most recently worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs as an information security officer. Prior to that, Beckstead served as an information security and operations analyst for SPAWAR Systems Center Atlantic in South Carolina. Johnson, hired as senior vice president/team leader in Orem, founded Silver State Bancorp in Henderson Nevada, growing it to 17 branches and 10 loan production offices. He is also former president of Westates Construction Co. LC in South Jordan.
COMMUNICATIONS
• AT&T has named Nancy Garvey as vice president and general manager to oversee business in Utah, Colorado, Montana, Wyoming and Idaho. She will manage nearly 725 employees and more than 500 AT&T-owned retail locations, national retail partners and authorized resellers in the five-state territory. She will be based in Englewood, Colorado. Garvey has 35 years of telecommunications industry experience, including a blend of sales, marketing, financial and operational management. Garvey previously was vice president and general manager of AT&T Mobility’s Kansas, Missouri and southern Illinois regions, where she led all wireless and sales operations.
CONSTRUCTION
•Oldcastle Materials, Mountain West Division, has hired Eva Oseguera as training director. She will be responsible for the management, development, implementation and coordination of training programs and initiatives within the Mountain West Division. Oseguera previously worked as a training and development business partner at Fresenius Medical Care. She is an adjunct professor at Weber State University, teaching interpersonal and small group communication. Her education includes a B.A. in organizational communication with an emphasis in training and development from Weber State. Oldcastle Materials is the parent company of Staker Parson Cos.
CONTESTS
• The Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute at the University of Utah has started a new high school idea competition, the High School Utah Entrepreneur Challenge. All students throughout Utah, ages 14-18, are welcome to compete for a chance to win $22,000 in cash and scholarships. The competition is sponsored by Zions Bank. Students can enter the competition now by entering their ideas online. Submissions are due by March 31, and the awards ceremony will be held at the UofU on May 14. The contest is designed to be a fun way for high school students to explore innovation and entrepreneurship. The competition focuses on problem-solving and the first step in developing a business idea. To participate, students form teams, develop an innovative idea and submit a presentation online to be judged for the first round. Sixteen finalist teams will be announced on April 15. Those teams will be invited to the final HS UEC event for presentations and judging. This event will include a tabling pitch event, presentations and awards. Details are at lassonde.utah.edu/hsuec.

•Salt Lake Community College has named Michael Navarre as assistant vice president for institutional marketing and communications. He will be responsible for the college’s integrated marketing and communications efforts, including overseeing traditional, social and digital marketing, public relations and public image, the contact center and creative services for the institution. He joins the college after 12 years leading strategic planning and client relations at R&R Partners. He also worked for seven years at Bonneville International. Navarre earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Utah.
GOVERNMENT
• TheRedevelopment Agency (RDA) of Salt Lake City has released a request for proposals (RFP) for its property at 208 W. 900 S., in the Central Ninth neighborhood in the West Temple Gateway Project Area. The 0.4-acre parcel is one of two remaining development opportunities in the neighborhood just south of downtown Salt Lake City. Through the RFP, the RDA is inviting developers to submit proposals to purchase the property, and design and construct a community services-oriented development. The full RFP can be accessed at www.slcrda.com. A developer information meeting is scheduled for 4 p.m. Feb. 24 at Publik Coffee Roasters, 975 W. Temple, to give prospective developers the opportunity to ask questions regarding the land and the RFP.
HEALTHCARE
•SelectHealth, Murray, has named Dr. Russ Kuzel as vice president and chief medical officer. Beginning in March, he will be responsible for SelectHealth clinical operations and services and will serve as a member of the SelectHealth executive team. He succeeds Dr. Stephen Barlow, who began his new role as population health medical director for Intermountain Healthcare last September. Kuzel most recently served as the senior vice president and chief medical officer of UCare, where he was responsible for leading clinical strategy and services. He also was chief medical officer at Security Health Plan.
•Clinical Innovations, Salt Lake City, has promoted Dr. Ross McQuivey from medical director to chief medical officer. McQuivey originally joined Clinical Innovations in 2003, providing leadership in medical affairs and intelligence, clinical program development and medical safety and risk assessments. In his expanded role, McQuivey also will be responsible for supporting business acquisitions, new product innovation, advisory board oversight, product quality evaluations and clinical affairs. He has nearly two decades of experience in scientific, medical and business elements of the medical device industry. McQuivey serves as an adjunct clinical instructor within the department of obstetrics and gynecology at the Stanford University School of Medicine. His education includes a doctorate of medicine from the University of Utah School of Medicine.

•Callister Nebeker & McCullough, Salt Lake City, has elected Scott M. McCullough and Michael D. Stanger to serve on the firm’s board of directors. McCullough replaces Jeffrey L. Shields, who served on the board from 2002-2016. McCullough is a member of the firm’s Estate & Tax Planning Section and specializes in estate, business, asset protection and charitable planning. Stanger replaces Cass Butler, who served on the board from 2014-2016. Stanger is practice chair of the firm’s Labor & Employment Section.
•Snell & Wilmer has hired Allison Brown,Todd M. Labrum and Jordan Lee for its Salt Lake City office. Brown focuses her practice in commercial real estate. Prior to Snell & Wilmer, she was an extern in the mergers and acquisitions department for Delsol Avocats in Paris, France. Brown received her J.D. from Brigham Young University’s J. Reuben Clark Law School and a B.A. from BYU’s Kennedy Center for International Studies. Labrum concentrates his practice in commercial finance. Prior to joining Snell & Wilmer, he was an associate city prosecutor for the Salt Lake City Prosecutor’s Office. His education includes a B.S. from Brigham Young University. Lee’s practice is concentrated in commercial litigation, employment litigation and employment counseling. Following her law school graduation, Lee worked as an employment attorney in the Orange County office of Snell & Wilmer. Lee received her J.D. from Brigham Young University’s J. Reuben Clark Law School and received her B.A. from BYU.
• Parsons Behle & Latimer has hired Robert H. Hughes and Nora R. Pincus as of counsel for the firm’s Salt Lake City office. Hughes is a member of the firm’s environmental & natural resources department. He advises public and private clients on land use and zoning issues, eminent domain and natural resources matters. Before joining the firm, he served as in-house counsel at Utah Transit Authority. Hughes’ s education includes a J.D. degree in 2003 from the University of Utah. Pincus is a member of the firm’s corporate transactions and securities and environmental and natural resources departments, focusing on natural resources development, land use and real estate, with particular emphasis on oil and gas exploration and production, mining, real estate development and renewable energy projects. • JMT USA, Salt Lake City, has hired Ron Backhaus as Midwestern regional sales manager for its metal fabrication equipment. Plate rolls have been Backhaus’ major focus in the metal forming industry since 2004. Prior to joining JMT, Backhaus founded Davi North America and served as its president until 2009. Backhaus then started his own company and was the exclusive North American importer of Sertom dishing and flanging machines.

• American Gilsonite Co. Inc., based in Houston and with mining operations in the Uinta Basin, has appointed David G. Gallagher as president and chief executive officer. Gallagher has more than 30 years of experience in the oil and gas service sector, having served with Schlumberger, CARBO Ceramics and Baker Hughes in engineering, operations, product development and executive management roles. He joined American Gilsonite in 2013 as senior vice president of commercial operations.

• The AARP Foundation Tax-Aide Program in Utah is again offering to help Utahns file their taxes on time. It is available to Utahns regardless of age or membership. The program features 125 IRS-certified volunteer tax preparers with an average of seven years of experience in 36 sites around the state. A program tax-aide locator and more information are at aarp.org/taxaide. Tax-Aide locations will be open to help taxpayers until April 15. Last year, the free, volunteer-based service helped more than 7,300 taxpayers collect refunds averaging $750 per person. Since the program began in 1968, nearly 50 million low-to-moderate income taxpayers have benefited from the service nationwide.

•Do Terra, Pleasant Grove, has donated funds toward the purchase of building supplies for a school being rebuilt in Thame, Napal, following the destruction of the school in an April 2015 earthquake, and provided products for a silent auction in connection with the Addict II Athlete annual 5K/10K run in Orem. DoTerra’s Healing Hands Foundation donated products to Operation Underground Railroad, for the organization’s “Save the Babes” event that raised money to help free children from human trafficking, and donated products for a silent auction to support the Emma B. Howe Family YMCA fundraiser gala.

•Phillips Edison & Co.has promoted Scott Adair to vice president of community partnerships. He will remain based in Salt Lake City. Adair previously served as assistant director of property management. In his new role, created as a result of the company’s Innovation Labs’ “Community Engagement Initiative,” Adair is responsible for cultivating new and managing existing relationships with community leaders to build goodwill and advance business objectives. He has more than 15 years of property and project management experience. In addition to his time at Phillips Edison, Adair worked for DDR Corp. and Sperry Van Ness Asset Management.
•Wadsworth Development Group (WDG), Draper, has hired Aanjel Clayton as an administrative assistant. Clayton previously worked two years in the Salt Lake County Mayor’s Office.
•NAI Utah South, St. George, has hired Stan Perkins as an associate broker and vice president of commercial and investment sales and leasing. Perkins has 35 years of experience in the real estate industry, including extensive experience in commercial and corporate real estate acquisitions and divestitures.

Schor has more than 20 years of experience in global and domestic sales and management positions within both channel and direct sales organizations, including eight years with Dell SonicWALL. Prior to joining StorageCraft, Schor held leadership roles in the Internet security space. At Dell SonicWALL, Schor served in a variety of sales roles, including vice president of eastern U.S. sales.
TRANSPORTATION
•The Driver Provider, a Phoenix-based chauffeured transportation services company, has expanded its operations into Salt Lake City. The office is at 2825 E. Cottonwood Parkway, Suite 569. The location will offer executive-style transportation for resorts, destination management companies, meeting planners and corporate and social travelers. Alltrans, The Driver Provider’s sister company, will begin running a fixed-route shuttle service from Salt Lake City to Jackson, Wyoming, Mondays through Thursdays.
