It is hiring local technical support and customer service agents as well as releasing a new Australia-specific product domain to support a growing number of clients in the Asia Pacific time zone. KPI Fire was formed in 2014 and offers software-as-a-service (SaaS)-based project management and business intelligence software. More than half of its revenues come from Europe and Africa, and the company plans to expand into several South American countries later this year.

• Utah Treasurer David Damschen has appointedKirt Slaughas chief deputy treasurer. Slaugh will oversee investments, banking contracts and the office’s Unclaimed Property Division. For the past three-plus years, Slaugh was the national healthcare treasury team leader at KeyBank, where he led a team of client advisors and analysts in consulting with hospitals and health clinics on revenue cycle efficiency initiatives. Prior to joining KeyBank, Slaugh served 11 years in treasury at Intermountain Healthcare and most recently served as treasury operations manager.

•Homie, Salt Lake City, has closed on its seed round of funding, with a total amount of $4.5 million raised. The round was led byValar Ventures, a venture capital firm backed by Peter Thiel. Other investors in the round includeKPCBedge,Peak VenturesandEpic Ventures. The investment will be used to fuel the company’s growth and expansion to additional markets. Homie is a peer-to-peer marketplace where buyers and sellers of homes can meet, negotiate and transact without a middleman or high commission fees. Homie is available in Utah and plans to expand to additional markets later this year.

It also offers dine-in and take-out meal options. The $26 million store will have 250 employees. It is the first of five under construction in Utah that will open this year.
