As of June 30, the city had 3,316 full-time, part-time and seasonal workers. More than 900 of the employees engage in work requiring heavy machinery, or use city-owned vehicles to perform their jobs, most of them in the departments of Public Services, Airports, Public Utilities and Sustainability.
• Verizon is top-ranked for overall wireless network performance in Salt Lake City, based on the RootScore Report, conducted by Seattle-based RootMetrics. It is the sixth consecutive six-month testing period win for Verizon. Verizon has won the overall RootScore award in Salt Lake City since 2014. Verizon also ranked first in network reliability, call, speed and data performance. RootMetrics uses off-the-shelf consumer smartphones to test the network capabilities of the four major U.S. wireless carriers in six network performance categories across various geographies. RootMetrics testers drove more than 1,000 miles throughout the Salt Lake City metro area in the recent study. They compared national wireless competitors in 24 indoor locations and conducted more than 14,000 total tests July 19-July 23.

Holmes was named the company’s president and chief executive officer a year ago.
