Two permanent supportive housing projects in Salt Lake City have been provided funding from KeyBank’s Community Development Lending and Investment (CDLI) program. The program has arranged for $43.4 million for the projects.
Sunrise Metro, a 100-unit, four-story structure at 580 W. 500 S., is being renovated with 18 new units added to the second floor. Atkinson Stacks is a new 100-unit, six-story modular structure at 543 S. 500 W. It is designed to combat homelessness by providing units restricted to 25 percent to 35 percent of the area median income.
According to a release from KeyBank, the new building will include commercial space on the bottom floor for Sacred Circle, which provides substance abuse counseling, employment and financial support services. It will also operate a clinic and pharmacy.
Each unit will include a kitchen range, refrigerator, laminate countertops and vinyl floors. At Sunrise Metro, amenities include a courtyard, dog run, case management offices, supportive service spaces and a food pantry. Also to be added are a gym, programmed outdoor spaces, a pharmacy and medical clinic. Sacred Circle Healthcare will be staffed with 12 full-time employees on-site.
“We sincerely thank KeyBank for supporting this transformative project,” said Daniel Nackerman, executive director of the Housing Authority of Salt Lake City. “The new and renovated housing will offer safe, affordable homes with essential services that uplift residents. By promoting community and stability, we are making notable progress toward improving lives and strengthening neighborhoods in Salt Lake City.”
KeyBank’s CDLI currently finances projects in all 50 states.
