• Utah Valley University has appointed Scott M. Smith as UVU Board of Trustees chair, Jeanette Bennett as first vice chair, and Jeremy Hafen as second vice chair. Rick Nielsen, Kara North, Paul Thompson and Noel Vallejo recently completed their board terms. Other new board members will be announced later this summer by Gov. Spencer Cox. Eight members of the board are appointed by the governor and confirmed by the Utah Senate, and two trustees serve as ex officio members who are the president of the alumni association and the president of the associated students. Trustees serve up to two four-year terms, with the possibility of extension. Smith is co-founder of Qualtrics and a longtime advocate for education and community development. He has been a board member since 2019. Bennett is founder of Utah Valley Magazine and a figure in Utah’s civic and business communities. She became the executive managing director and CEO of Colliers Utah in April 2024 where she leads a team of 200 people. She has been a board member since 2021. Hafen is president of Clyde Companies Inc. and has experience in business leadership, construction and institutional advancement. He has been a board member since 2023.
• Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions, based in Provo, has appointed Jeffrey Lynn Fisher as senior executive director of the RMU Foundation. The foundation is a nonprofit organization that supports the academic and clinical initiatives of the university, including the RMU Health Clinics, which provide health care services across Utah County and serve as student learning environments. Fisher has more than 30 years of leadership experience in development, philanthropy and nonprofit management, most recently serving as director of development and external affairs for the Hale Center Foundation for the Arts & Education. RMU is a graduate health care education institution founded in 1998. It offers master’s and doctoral degree programs in various health care specialties.
HEALTH CARE
• Scripius, a Salt Lake City-based pharmacy benefit manager, has made several leadership changes. Eric Cannon has been elevated to chief commercial officer and general manager of Scripius. He will continue leading pharmacy services at Select Health while driving the strategic direction of Scripius. Cannon helped to launch Scripius in 1998. Matt Mitchell has been named chief pharmacy officer for Scripius. He will oversee formulary strategy, manufacturer contracting, clinical programs, pharmacy trend management and network development. Jennie Barlow has been appointed assistant vice president of pharmacy industry relations. Barlow will lead pharmaceutical contracting efforts and expand network development initiatives. Steve Williams has been named assistant vice president of pharmacy systems. Williams will manage pharmacy system infrastructure supporting over 11 million claims and more than $1 billion in pharmacy-related payments annually. La’i Davies has been promoted to assistant vice president of pharmacy operations. Davies will continue managing functions that include customer service, claims processing, prior authorizations, auditing and other key operational processes for both Scripius and Select Health Pharmacy.
• Huntsman Cancer Institute at the University of Utah has announced that two faculty members have received new endowed chair appointments and one has had his chair renewed. Endowed chairs commend cancer researchers who are advancing work in support of the institute’s mission. They recognize academic distinction, promote excellence, and provide funds to advance cancer research. New chairs are Dr. Brock O’Neil and Dr. Jens Lohr. O’Neil, urologic oncologist and researcher at Huntsman Cancer Institute and associate professor of surgery at the UofU, has been appointed the Huntsman Cancer Institute Endowed Chair in Urologic Oncology. Lohr, hematologic oncologist and researcher at Huntsman Cancer Institute and professor of internal medicine at the UofU, has been appointed the Huntsman Cancer Institute Presidential Endowed Chair in Hematologic Malignancies. The renewed endowed chair is Dr. Manish Kohlitourinary oncologist and prostate cancer researcher at Huntsman Cancer Institute and professor of internal medicine at the UofU. Kohli has been renewed as the Jack R. and Hazel M. Robertson Presidential Endowed Chair.

• Trucordia, a Lindon-based insurance brokerage, has appointed Rajeev Khanna as chief information officer. Khanna will guide Trucordia’s platform integration strategy, lead digital transformation initiatives, and spearhead technology innovation at the company. Khanna has over three decades of experience directing global technological operations, product development and infrastructure management across industries, including e-commerce, banking, technology, and professional services. Most recently, he served as global chief technology officer for Aon plc. Prior to that, he held leadership roles at Expedia as vice president of global infrastructure services and at Asurion as senior director of global infrastructure services.

• The Picklr, a Kaysville-based indoor pickleball franchise, has appointed Abby Olson as chief operating officer. She will oversee day-to-day operations, streamline franchise support systems, and foster cross-functional collaboration across departments, including franchise operations, customer experience, training, international expansion and brand compliance. Olson previously served as vice president of field operations and vice president of training at Crumbl.

• Foley & Lardner LLP has hired David Morris for its Salt Lake City office as a partner in its Taxation Practice Group. Morris has experience counseling private equity sponsors and corporate clients on a broad range of complex transactional tax matters. Morris most recently was with Kirkland & Ellis LLP, where he counseled private equity sponsors and corporate clients on a range of transactional tax matters. Morris has over a decade of experience advising on domestic and cross-border tax issues involving mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, recapitalizations, debt and equity financings, and internal restructurings. He also regularly counsels investment funds, portfolio companies, and emerging growth businesses on transaction-specific issues and structural tax planning. He has advised clients across diverse industries, including software, financial services, energy and manufacturing. Since opening in 2021, Foley’s Salt Lake City office has grown to 33 attorneys.

• YESCO, a Salt Lake City-based custom sign manufacturing company, has announced the retirement of Steve Jones after more than 32 years at the company. Jones held numerous leadership roles, from starting in Ogden as assistant manager and outdoor manager to his later appointment as president of YESCO Custom Signs. He also served as vice president and Los Angeles manager. Most recently, he served as senior vice president of YESCO Sign and Lighting Service.

• Warrior Rising, a South Jordan-based nonprofit organization that empowers U.S. military veterans and their families to start and scale businesses, has appointed Rich Willie as general counsel. Willie will help guide Warrior Rising’s national expansion, legal strategy and corporate partnerships, with a special focus on supporting veteran entrepreneurs in Utah and across the country. Willie is the founding attorney at WW Partners, a major in the Utah National Guard and a member of the Utah Securities Bar.

• Beans & Brews Coffeehouse, Salt Lake City, has announced three new hires. Chef Becca McIntyre joins as vice president of supply chain and culinary. Carrie Cohen is senior manager of digital marketing. Rachel Day is senior manager of social media. McIntyre is a classically trained chef with experience in culinary development and operational strategy. Cohen is updating the brand’s loyalty program, optimizing the brand’s digital systems, and leading implementation of performance marketing initiatives. Day is leading a refresh of the brand’s social media presence and expanding brand appeal and reach through new content partnerships and cross-platform engagement. Founded in 1993 and franchising since 2004, Beans & Brews Coffeehouse now has over 85 locations across seven states, with 112 more in development.

• 401GO, a Sandy-based 401(k) retirement plan provider, has appointed Cheryl Morrison Deutsch as chief experience officer. Based in the Boston area, she will lead the creation of a strategy for aligning the needs of 401GO’s set of users and partners with the company’s products and technology. She has decades of experience managing the user experience in such sectors as technology, health care and financial services. Morrison Deutsch served as president and CEO of HealthFleet for seven years and also founded TriadHLTH Corp.

• Pattern, a Lehi-based company focused on e-commerce acceleration, has appointed Sue Taylor and Ann Mather to its board of directors. The board has expanded from five to seven members, with Taylor and Mather joining as independent directors. Taylor is a former chief accounting officer of Meta and LinkedIn. She also is an independent board member at Pure Storage and KLA. Mather is a former chief financial officer of Pixar. She also serves on the boards of Netflix and Bumble, and previously served on the boards of Alphabet, Airbnb, Arista Networks, MGM Studios and Zappos. Since its founding in 2013, Pattern has grown to more than 1,800 employees operating from 20 global locations.
